Kindness Card Pop-up Event
at Starbucks
A community mental wellness initiative, conducted on the Valentine’s day, in partnership with our local Starbucks.
Through kindness cards and hand written notes, we invited our community to slow down and care for their well-being, because Mental health is Health.
Students and community members stopped, reflected and shared.
100+ kindness cards were shared during the event.
40+ handwritten notes were written by our community members.
Over 3 hours of community interactions.
“Kindness is Simple. But, it’s impact is powerful.”
Mental Health Matters
and when we care for the mind, the body feels it too.
Mind Body Mental Awareness
at USC HOSA Chapter
Our service event was an on-campus mental health awareness initiative focused on the mind-body connection. We presented the purpose and goal of our mental health promotion campaign, who we are and why we started this campaign.
We also talked about how stress shows up physically and why this is significant to students, along with covering coping mechanisms students can use to balance their mental health.
We had an interactive ice breaker session and an anonymous stress questionnaire that gave us some insights to the stress in campus life.
We learned that Mental health is a major factor impacting academic performance.
MHA SC - Mental Health Conference
We had a great opportunity to attend the Mental Health Conference conducted by the Medical Health Association of South Carolina, We attended this conference to gather more research and information.
The main topic discussed was suicide because, according to NAMI, it has been identified as the second leading cause of death among youth.
The conference addressed a wide range of groups that may be vulnerable to suicide, and the main factors leading to it.
We spread the image of HOSA out to all the guests that attended, and talked about our campaign. We also discussed the importance to spread awareness about the Mind-Body Connection.
